Luminara
Sotheby's transformed an entire secluded house nestled amidst the majestic redwoods of California, into an immersive solo exhibition showcasing the diverse artistic journey of Marc Northstar. The exhibition encompassed an extensive collection of his works created in San Francisco, spanning from sculptures to oil paintings, and even featuring his personal journal filled with sketches documenting his world travels and anthropological studies across Asia and Europe.
The interplay between the forms' structure and their environment serves as a poignant example of the contemporary thinking with the relationship between art and architecture.
The angular forms generate a sense of tension that enhances their sculptural qualities and amplifies their poetic language within the surrounding space.
The slender appearance of these forms belies their impressive stature and commanding presence. Each piece stands tall, a monument to Marc's skill in creating work that is both beautiful and impactful. The poetic language of these forms is conveyed through their minimalist design, emphasizing the beauty of negative space and the interplay of light and shadow. As such, they are not simply objects to be admired, but experiences to be felt and explored.
Work in progress is more enticing than a final product; it tells a story, provokes emotions, and evokes mystery!
